Meet
the Chef! Kristen D'Angelo is the pastry
chef and owner at Petits Gateaux.
Kristen comes from a food loving Italian
family in New York. With so many great cooks in the family, she has made it her
mission to master the art of pastry and bring something new to the table.
While
she has always had a sweet tooth, Kristen first began to appreciate the art of
French Patisserie during her semester abroad in Aix en Provence, France. Here
she learned the differences between European and American pastry and how important
it is to the French culture.
After finishing her business degree at Hawaii
Pacific University, Kristen worked at a local bakery to see what it would be like.
She loved it and decided to move to California and pursue a Baking and Pastry
certificate at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in the Napa Valley.
Here she learned all the skills she needed to re-create the delicious pastries
she had once seen in France. She graduated from the CIA in 2008, receiving the
Baking Acheivement Award for her hard work and dedication.
Since opening
Petits Gateaux in 2009, Kristen has done work for the Golden State Warriors, creating
special pastries for their fans sitting in the coveted floor seats. Kristen's
style is a mix of homemade flavors and textures with elegant, beautiful presentation. | | |
